The spirits are being made with the greatest care and humility which resulted in seven champion awards and the title of "Hungary's best pálinka 2015". The distillery takes place in the 100 years old building of the ''Masinaház'' near Sopron in the village of Hegykő, in the area of the Fertő-Hanság National Park, where the traditions of pálinka distilling are fused with the newest technologies.

HOLDVÖLGY started off as a heart-felt gesture, a birthday gift of vineyard from owner’s mother to her husband. In the end he acquired 25ha of vines in the Mád basin, all parcels lying in originally classified Crus. The keys to quality are an acute understanding of each different parcel, hand-tending and harvesting the grapes and berries, and a careful parcel by parcel selection. Either dry or sweet, the wines themselves are precise, and HOLDVÖLGY is striving to make wines with the most precise terroir signature for the given variety and vintage.

Our wine-growing and cellars are located in the Káli-medence at Köveskál, on the southern side of the volcanic Fekete Hill, based on an old family business, where the tradition of viniculture and wine-making is still being passed from father to son. At present we produce different type of grapes like Olaszrizling, Furmint, Riesling, Szürkebarát, Tramini, Juhfark, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Kékfrankos, Syrah on 16 hectares area. On the newest land of our vineyard we are growing Furmint grape, which was also a main type in the region before the vine-pest. We set through severe sprout- and bunch-selection the ideal quantity of yield, to the best quality of grapes could be harvested. We are not using any strong chemicals, insecticide and herbicide to insure the maximum protection of our plants. Our aim is to reach the biological balance of the grape. Our wines are made with modern methods and technologies but ageing the wine in a traditional wooden barrel and make it over in a bottle only.
